History
PAIN was organized by
Bob and Susan Maddox on March 16, 2003. They did this because they
had a lot of people coming to them with concerns about the drug problems
in their neighborhood and surrounding areas. They thought that, if
there were so many others concerned with this problem as they were, that
maybe it was time to do something about it instead of just talking about
it. They called several people and asked them to get in touch with
people who had the same concerns. They set up a meeting at their
place of business on March 16, 2003, and were surprised by the turnout
of over thirty people in just two day notification.
Since that time the
organization has grown to a sizeable group of diversified individuals
dedicated to curbing this rampantly growing problem in Montague
County. We were very fortunate to obtain Jeff Jackson as our
spokesperson and president. He has done an excellent job at
getting more involvement in PAIN, and at getting us more organized.
We have also had
request from other counties to become affiliated with PAIN. We
continue to grow, and plan to become nationwide. We welcome anyone
who would be interested in setting up a chapter of PAIN.
Meetings
PAIN meets every third
Thursday of the month at the Bowie High School. Everyone is
invited to attend these meetings. You don't have to be a parent to
be a member of Parents Against Illegal Narcotics (PAIN). We
encourage everyone, including our youth to become involved to help in
our fight against illegal drugs.
